GUEST: John Schuck

March 8, 2008 by Jay

So I get the call today to add John Schuck to the list of May bonus guests and my first instinct was to say “Who?” so quickly-like I do a Google check and then it dawns on me…KLINGON AMBASSADOR!? DUUUUDE I love that guy! Not to mention that when you break it down John Schuck is a huge character actor who probably goes namelessly into sci-fi obscurity. So if I do one thing this season its going to be to make John Schuck a household name!!!

Wait-a-minute…the Klingons are going to be a this next con (again) aren’t they?

Crap. I may have just put myself at the mercy of a batleth dual…sheesh!

Anyway, here’s some fun info to jog everyone’s mind…because this guy is my new fav when you check out all he’s done for Trekdom everywhere!

John Schuck (born 4 February 1940; age 68) is an actor who has appeared in two Star Trek films and three Star Trek spin-off series. He played the Klingon ambassador in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and reprised this role in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. He went on to play another Klingon, the geneticist Doctor Antaak, in the two episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise centering on the Klingon augment virus, “Affliction” and “Divergence”. In between, he made appearances - as non-Klingons - on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.

Some people seem to forget that actors have other famous rolls besides Star Trek and other science fiction. I remember Mr. Schuck as ‘Daddy Warbucks’ on Broadway in ‘Annie’. He also had a long run on ‘McMillan & Wife. We mustn’t limit everything to sci fi.
