Known to Trek fans as the Bajoran Liason officer, Major Kira Nerys on board Deep Space Nine for seven years and eventually being promoted to Colonel and made the commanding officer in the continuing novelized series. Vulkon is proud to welcome Nana Visitor back to one of our shows in Orlando this July as our featured Saturday guest!
Following DS9’s seven year run, Nana returned to the stage as Roxie in the Broadway production of CHICAGO and guest starred as Madam X on Dark Angel. Following a few guest spots on both drama and comedy series, Nana landed the role of Jean Ritter in ABC Family’s original series, Wildfire, as well as roles in the independent films Mini’s First Time (2006) and Babysitter Wanted (2007). She currently divides her time between New Mexico where Wildfire films, and the family’s home in Las Vegas.

As it turns out Writer/Producer/Creator, David E. Kelley who has brought us the likes of Ally McBeal, The Practice, and my personal fav Boston Legal has acquired rights to the UK scifi show ‘Life on Mars’. According to an article from the BBC, Kelley has written a pilot script and ABC (no big surprise there) has pledged to pick it up for at least a full season run.
I guess when you bring them a slam dunk hit like Boston Legal, you get to tread where you’ve never trod before. The program originally starred John Simm, who fans will recall played ‘The Master’ in last seasons finale of ‘Doctor Who’, and Philip Glenister when it was originally shown in the UK.
O’Mara will take Simm’s role as a modern-day police officer who is transported back to the 1970s.
The original version of Life on Mars won a Bafta last year and the finale of the show was seen by more than seven million people in April 2007.
It spawned a sequel - Ashes to Ashes, set in the 1980s - starring Glenister, who has now signed up to appear in a second series.
Who knows if we’ll adopt the second series into any possible US version.

Special thanks to our pal Doug Storey for turning us on to this one…who has the best peeps in the biz!
Filming on the new ‘Trek’ film was going on today outside Bakersfield, Calif., when a car (apparently) crashed and somehow the accident involved a member of the film crew.
CHP confirmed later for an ABC affiliate that the filming near Highway 119 and Enos Lane was in fact for a “Star Trek” prequel.
While members of the crew have declined to comment at the scene, there were some unwanted special effects after a head-on crash on Highway 119 in front of the movie set.
The crash did not disrupt filming.
