Patrick Stewart on ‘Picard’ and ‘Macbeth’

How many ways can I spell classy that don’t include the name Patrick Stewart? I mean, as Trek stars go this guy is all class and just as much gravitas as they come. In my estimate he’s as well known as Shatner and probably as iconic where Trek is concerned. An still this guy manages to keep his ego in check. For those of you that don’t know, he’s in ‘Macbeth’ and doing unbelievably well.

Recently he had a chat with the New York Magazine and was asked: “Has playing Jean-Luc Picard taught you anything about Macbeth?” to which, Captain Class replied:

“…I played that character for seven years, 178 episodes week in, week out, four feature films. Those years were very productive, they were very important to me, and they changed my life in every aspect. I am proud of Star Trek: The Next Generation, I am proud of the work we did, and I am proud of the character I played, because I know for a fact he’s been an outstanding role model to people. Is there any of him in Macbeth? No. There really isn’t. Jean-Luc Picard, supposing he were married to Lady Macbeth - which he would never have been because he is married to the Enterprise, as we all know - he would never have permitted these things to happen because he is not a violent man, and not a man who would put personal ambition before the good of others.”

Captain Archer vs. Jason Bourne…(sort of)

April 2, 2008 by Admin · Leave a Comment

Yes at long last Captain Archer will be hitting the big screen. Uh hold on…sorry for any confusion…but he will not be doing it as “Captain Archer” in fact, Star trek alum and veteran sci-fi actor Scott Bakula has been signed to appear beside Matt Damon (The Bourne Trilogy) for an espionage flick.

IGN UK Reports:

Bakula, most famous for his roles as Dr. Sam Beckett in Quantum Leap and Captain Archer in Enterprise, will play an FBI agent who exposes an international price-fixing scheme with the help of unstable biochemist Mark Whitacre (Damon).

So will it be good? Will it be bad?

Only time…and the box office will tell.
